The organizing committee of Zunheboto Town Platinum Jubilee (ZTPJ) organized a programme on November 11, “honouring citizens-75 years and above” as part of the 75th year of establishment of Zunheboto town.
A press release by ZTPJ media cell stated that DC Zunheboto, Tridibesh Roy as chief guest expressed his happiness on being part of the celebration in honouring the most respected senior citizens of Zunheboto district. While exhorting the senior citizens about the rights and privileges for senior citizens as provided by Government of India, Tridibesh Roy said “senior citizens are an asset to the society, the present day elders truly represent the generation of pre-independence era known for a value based life”. DC further lauded that senior citizens were accomplished, humble, honest and practiced to a large extent at to what was right. DC said that elders also have the responsibility to guide the youth and instill the much needed confidence in them. He also appreciated the organising committee for creating the space to give importance to senior citizens.
Project director, DRDA, Zunheboto, Inazhe Phuleshe in his exhortation thanked the senior citizens for the contribution they have made for the younger generation, while encouraging them to practice and live a healthy life by exercising regularly, maintaining proper diet and food habit and living a spiritual life. Blankets were also distributed to all the senior citizens from Zunheboto town.
Earlier the program was chaired by Nikheto Zhimomi, invocation by pastor, SBCZ, Shitoho Kiho, while Niza Lejo and Kids World Montessori gave special presentation.
