Dear Madam, Thank you for the question. Unfortunately, if a person is not motivated to give up alcohol and is not interested in staying in a Rehabilitation Center, the outcome may not be very favourable. The rehabilitation center also will have a time period after which he has to come out and be in the society. Hence motivation to give up alcohol may be very relevant. I do not see any indications in your question about dementia due to alcohol. This is specific to your question regarding you father. I am not clear the issues about your brother – whether he himself needs help or whether he is not very willing to help you in the care of your father .

Hello, I understand your concern. Would like to suggest you to go for a family counseling and also to engage dad in forums where senor citizens are active physically and mentally. Alcohol consumption in the long run might lead to alcohol induced dementia or other various health related issues. Your brother might benefit out of counseling sessions by a trained psychologist or psychiatrists who can even look at any other aspects of his mental well being.
