The Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS), named after the late Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi, is a scheme to provide financial assistance to the poorest of the poor falling below the poverty line (BPL). An amount of INR 200 is given per month to the beneficiaries who qualify for the scheme as per the criteria laid by Government of India.
Any citizen of India above the age of 65 years, male or female can apply for this. The applicant must belong to a household that is below the poverty line. The amount is credited into the bank or post office account of the beneficiary.
